LG launch KC 780, has 8 Mega Pixel Camera

LG today announced the KC 780 Camera Phone after it was leaked earlier. The KC 780 contains a 8 Mega Pixel Camera & is just 13.9 mm thick, which is quite a feat considering it contains such a high resolution camera in it. It is the slimmest handset till now to have a 8 Mega Pixel Camera as the Samsung M8000 Pixon is 14.8 mm thick. Apart from being a digital camera, it also doubles up as a camcorder as it can shoot in Wide VGA at a resolution of 720 x 480 at 30 Frames per Second. The KC 780 also has other features like ace and smile detection, beauty shot, image stabilization and ISO 1600.

The KC 780 has a 2.4 inch display with support of 262 colors & QVGA (240 x 320) resolution. It has the latest Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, 140 MB Storage & MicroSD card slot. However it doesn't have support for 3G or HSDPA so the only choice for data transfers is EDGE. The KC 780 will be also be able to stream video over it's bluetooth connection so it can also double up as a wireless web cam.

The Kc 780 is the second 8 Mega Pixel Shooter from LG after the KC 910 Renoir. It's main competition is from the other 8 Mega Pixel phones like the Sony Ericsson C905, Samsung i8510 Innov8 & Samsung M8000 Pixon. The tri-band (900/1800/1900) handset will start shipping as early as November this year at a price which is yet to be announced.

Detailed Specs of LG KC 780 :

Samsung i8510 Innov8 & Sony Ericsson C905 Camera Comparison by Mobile Review

Mobile Review has posted comparison of Camera performance of the Samsung i8510 Innov8 & the Sony Ericsson C905.

During our quality time with either of these phones we made hundreds of photos in all imaginable environments (all in all, the final count is this: five hundred for the C905 and around a thousand for the INNOV8). So, in my opinion, we won't run out of sample snaps any time soon, plus this vast gallery we have accumulated over the last months should make for a decent and comprehensive comparison between these two cameraphones.

Furthermore, having some other not-yet-announced 8 Mpix shooters on our hands, we managed to see how the INNOV8 and C905 fared against similarly geared solutions - as it turned out, they weren't that much different at all.

Sony Ericsson W902 Review by Smape

Smape has reviewed the Sony Ericsson W902 in a very long & detailed review with lots of pics.

For a long time, Sony Ericsson have been following the policy of an accurate segmentation of their products. The majority of music-oriented solutions normally have below-than-average camera capabilities, the cameraphones almost never get a decent headset in the bundling and come around with a very plain player interface. The W980i music phone flagship equipped with a 8 Gb onboard flash storage unit is a good illustration to this policy. The camera is pretty plain, and so is the camera-controlling application. At that, the model utilizes the integrated accelerometer to the full, the ShakeControl feature greatly improving the usability of the music player.

Sony Ericsson Launch G705

Sony Ericsson finally launched the G705 Mobile Phone. The G705 sports a 2.4 inch screen with Quad Band GSM support, 3F, GPS, Wi-Fi, built-in accelerometer, Youtube Uploader, 3 Mega Pixel Camera with Flash & Geo Tagging. What's the catch you might be wondering ? Well, the camera doesn't have Auto Focus !!! We also share the same feeling that this is unacceptable in 2008 with phones like Innov8 & Sony Ericsson's own C905 having 8 Mega Pixel Auto Focus Cam. If SE prices this just right it might be a big hit and make profit for the company which is currently in a financial crisis. The Sony Ericsson G705 will be available in Silky Gold or Majestic Black (Luminous Black for G705u) in the early Q4.

Detailed Specs :

  • 3 Mega Pixel Camera with Flash & no Auto Focus
  • Picture editor/blogging

  • 3G & HSDPA
  • Wi-Fi with DLNA
  • GPS with Geotagging support

Moto Rokr EM30 & Sony Ericcson W302 compared by Smape

Smape has compared the Motorola Rokr EM30 & Sony Ericcson W302 in a detailed article.

An important point is that Motorola and Sony Ericsson took different paths on their chase of Nokia 5310. W890 was simplified to a huge extent, dropping its A200 platform in favor of a Sagem ODM-developed platform which is now used in W302. The materials, assembly, audio and misc things – everything was curbed and is distinctly different from the senior model. The continuity is just nominal, which is a very ambiguous step, given that the predecessor model was far from perfection itself, though much better than W880, which didn't even have a FM tuner.

The Americans took a smarter step by keeping EM30 pretty close to E8, which actually is little than a new version of the older handset, coming in different colors. The functional simplifications (memory, navigation wheel) help to drop down the price, so by the beginning of the sales the solutions will sell for roughly the same money. It's extremely important that Motorola preserved the fashion impact and even kept the same materials. This makes the solution the best offer in its class in that aspect.

LG launch KC 910 8 Mega Pixel Touch Screen Phone

LG today announced the KC 910, a rival to the Sony Ericcson C905 & Samsung Innov8. The KC 910 is also an Eight Mega Pixel shooter like the other two. It is also equipped with GPS, WiFi, 3 inch WQVGA Touch Screen & a Xenon Flash. The KC 910 also features 30 FPS VGA recording & 120 FPS QVGA recording like the Innov8. The final extras of the KC910 include microSD card slot, TV-out support, Xvid and DivX video playback and Dolby sound for the music. Sony Ericsson G705 leaks, no Auto Focus in Camera

Sony Ericsson G705 has been leaked. It's Slider phone in the G Series, but is not a smartphone like G700 & G900. It has GPS & WiFi but has no auto focus in the Camera. It has 128 MB Memory & has support for M2 cards to expand it further. It will also support geotagging.

It seems like a non-Walkman version of the recently announced W595 and fits in SE's strategy of making different versions of the same phone to cater to different audiences rather than to make a do-all phone. This is evident by the lack of Auto Focus in the camera of the phone which is completely unacceptable by today's standard. Even Music Flagships like Nokia N81 & Samsung i450 have Auto Focus cameras in them.

Sony Ericsson W902 Patty Leaked

A new phone by Sony Ericcson W902 Codenamed Patty has been leaked. It's a Walkman phone and will be the first Walkman phone from SE to have a 5 Mega Pixel Camera. The remarkable thing is that the phone is quite slim at just around 10 mm. Let's hope and pray for a 3.5 mm jack on the phone.

In recent times, the Walkman phones have suffered for the lack of 3.5 mm jack. It's hard to believe that a "Music Phone" doesn't have a 3.5 mm jack to plug custom headphones. In Contrast, Nokia & Samsung have embraced putting 3.5 mm jacks even in their low-end phones. Also the Music Quality of the Walkman phones in the recent past has left a lot to be desired due to the exclusion of a dedicated DSP for Sound Processing. Nokia & Samsung are again at the forefront here too.

The phone is supposed to be based on the SE C902 and will support a bigger screen than C902. Unfortunately Patty doesn't seem to have a lens cover for protecting it's 5 Mega Pixel Camera. The phone is equipped with a LED flash. Here's hoping for GPS inclusion just like C902.

The back of the phone supports a Carbon Fibre type finish just like the LG Secret. The phone will be the first Walkman Phone after the W610 to finally have Auto Focus in it. Earlier the Auto Focus was solely reserved for the Cybershot Series by Sony Ericcson.

All in all the phone seems to be a decent buy with the inclusion of 5 Mega Pixel Cam in a thin frame. The phone seems to be a worthy enough successor of the W800 and if SE price it right, this can be a potential blockbuster for them. That's if Nokia, Samsung & LG don't gatecrash into SE's party.

Motorola launches 5 Mega Pixel Phone ZN5

Motorola has finally launched a 5 Mega Pixel Camera Phone after Nokia, Samsung, LG & Sony Ericsson. The phone is named ZN5 and contains a CMOS sensor developed with the help of Kodak. It's a candybar and has a morph keypad like the Moto Rokr E8.

It also has Xenon Flash, Auto Focus and a 3.5 mm jack. The icing on the cake is the presence of Wi-fi. The only noteworthy omission is 3G and GPS. It is the first camera phone to have RAW support and also can save image files in TIFF format. Video Recording however is disappointing at QCIF.

The audio quality of ZN5 is excellent and is considered on par of other music phones like Moto Rokr E8 & Samsung i450.

It is a very good camera phone, it's relatively cheap and the image quality is also good. Now let's wait when it finally hits stores.

Specs in detail :

  • Quad Band GSM
  • 2.4 inch TFT QVGA Display
  • Touch Sensitive Keypad
  • Wi-fi
  • Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP
  • 5 Mega Pixel Kodak CMOS Camera with Auto Focus
