Samsung i8510 Innov8 & Sony Ericsson C905 Camera Comparison by Mobile Review

Mobile Review has posted comparison of Camera performance of the Samsung i8510 Innov8 & the Sony Ericsson C905.

During our quality time with either of these phones we made hundreds of photos in all imaginable environments (all in all, the final count is this: five hundred for the C905 and around a thousand for the INNOV8). So, in my opinion, we won't run out of sample snaps any time soon, plus this vast gallery we have accumulated over the last months should make for a decent and comprehensive comparison between these two cameraphones.

Furthermore, having some other not-yet-announced 8 Mpix shooters on our hands, we managed to see how the INNOV8 and C905 fared against similarly geared solutions - as it turned out, they weren't that much different at all.

Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte Review by Eldar Murtazin of Mobile Review

Eldar Murtazin of Mobile Review has posted a detailed review of Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte.

As far premium phones go, the Nokia 8800 has already become the timeless icon, and Nokia don't even try to bring fresh touches to its design with numerous modifications of the original phone. All they do is throw in some new materials in the mix (and naturally, metallic accents aren't going anywhere), tack on several exclusive themes and ring tones, and that's about it. Speaking of the latest iteration of the 8800, the Arte series, not much has changed, except for the Sapphire Arte, that boasted some glamorous additions to its looks - that is, a synthetic crystal and leather pads mounted on the front and rear.

The newly released Carbon Arte expands the range of available colors in this range, plus its steel-and-carbon casing freshens up the series a little bit. In fact, the Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte has carbon exactly on the spots where its predecessor, the Sapphire Arte featured leather inserts. Also contributing to the Carbon Arte's looks department is the fibrous nature of this material that adds a whole new dimension to the phone. Apparently, these carbon pads are coated in a transparent lacquer that manages to hide a good portion of fingerprints and ear grease, however its durability is on the lower side - our unit picked up quite a few scratches during our quality time with it. But they aren't discernible at all thanks to the fibers underneath that simply blend with all scratches and nicks on the front fascia of the Carbon Arte.

Nokia N85 Review by Eldar Murtazin of Mobile Review

Eldar Murtazin of Mobile Review has posted an extensive review of N85 with loads of pics.

At a glance, the N85's positioning in Nokia's portfolio may seem somewhat tangled. Judging by its technical specifications, it looks like almost the exact copy of the Nokia N95, bar a couple of things; however this first impression is deceiving. In fact, the N85 comes in to replace the original Nokia N95, that recently got an upgrade in the form of the N95 8 Gb. And since the N85 is superior to the latter on all major accounts, it easily qualifies as a successor to all existing iterations of the fabulous N95.

When it first arrived, the Nokia N95 retailed for around 550-600 Euro, whereas the Nokia N85 will go for around 450-500 Euro at start. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that these convergent devices have been relegated to a lower price bracket that will allow boosting their sales in a major way. So, the Nokia N85 will be targeting the mass market from the get-go and will remain one of Nokia's key offerings throughout 2009.

Nokia N79 & Nokia N85 First Impressions by Eldar Murtazin of Mobile Review

Eldar has published his first thoughts on both N85 & N79, which were officially launched by Nokia yesterday.

One of the N85's highlights is its 2.6 inch OLED-display capable of 16 million colors. While these bare numbers might not tell you much, the picture quality will for sure - the N85 is an enormous improvement over the Nokia N95 with its brighter and juicier colors along with very readable fonts. All in all, it's one of the best units we have seen yet. To tease you a little, let me say this - I managed to have a sneak peek at the next generation of screens some time ago (boasting the VGA resolution) and found that they were quite in line with the screen utilized in the Nokia N85.

To get a better idea of what the Nokia N79 is, let's start with a simple question - what phone the N79 aims to replace. While its closest sibling in Nokia's portfolio is the N78, it doesn't quite qualify as a full-fledged replacement, since they target different demographics. In fact, this phone comes in to take the place of the most popular Nseries smartphone to date - the N73. Given the way the N73 was positioned back in the day - decent camera for very little money - the N79 seems to fall under exactly the same category. It brings together a 5 Mpix camera module with a lens cover and the rich feature pack of N78.
