Mobile Review posts Review of Nokia 5730 Xpress Music with Qwerty

Mobile-Review has posted a review of the not yet launched Nokia 5730 Xpress Music Phone which has Qwerty Keypad. The phone is supposed to be a twin of the Nokia E75 and features GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.5 mm jack, 3.2 Mega Pixel Cam with Carl Zeiss Optics. Contrary to what other sites are reporting, the Phone does NOT have a screen size of 2 inches as Eldar Murtazin has posted the following before the start of the review.

Editor’s note. This is not a complete review, but rather our first impressions of this device. In fact, we played around with one of the first prototypes, and this fact must be factored in as far as the phone’s build quality and software department are concerned – many features are still missing, even though we are going to refer to some of them throughout this review. Also, you won’t find any data on the 5730 XpressMusic’s size or display simply because this information is not all that relevant at this moment.

Back Side

The phone comes with a new feature called Say & Play, which allows the user to just say a name of artist, song, album or playlist and the phone will play it. The Screen Size is most likely to be 2.4 inches with QVGA (240 x 320) resolution. The phone also has FM Radio, 3G, 128 MB Ram and 8 GB microSD card bundled. It's rumored to hit the shelves in April with a price tag of around 220 Euros.

Nokia launches N97, first N-Series with Qwerty

Nokia launched the N 97 multimedia smart touch phone (Nokia just calls it Multimedia Computer mrgreen). The most distinguishing feature of N97 is that it has a physical Qwerty keypad to help in messaging and mailing. Another touted feature is the 35 degree kickstand that helps in watching videos but can be bothersome if you drop the phone.

Looking at the spces, it has a 5 Mega Pixel Camera with Carl Zeiss Optics, 32 GB Flash Storage, a huge 3.5 inch screen with a decent (by HTC Touch HD's standards) resolution of 640 x 360, Wi-fi, GPS, FM Transmitter, 3.5 mm jack and a digital compass too. The styling is different than the N81/N96/N85 clones we saw from Nokia and we welcome that. Apart from the huge storage and the huge screen there's not much in it to differentiate it from it's other N-Series Brothers and Sisters like N85 & N96. The N97 is basically a Qwerty version of Nokia 5800 with double the storage of N96 and having all the features of N85. The N97 also supports widgets on it's home screen. The N97 also has a social feature which Nokia calls "So-Lo" which allows your friends to update their location and status.

Nokia seems to have learnt from it's mistake of N95 and N96 & has equipped the N97 with a 1500 mAh battery which should be adequate for a phone of it's size. The phone comes with a Digital Compass and Nokia Maps 3.0. The N97 is expected to begin shipping in the first half of 2009 at an estimated retail price of EUR 550 before taxes or subsidies. Nokia is definitely impressed to make the N97 it's Flagship of 2009. How much of a fight will it give to Sony Ericcsion Xperia X1 and a possible HTC Touch HD Pro is to be seen.

Detailed Specs of Nokia N97 :

  • 5 Mega Pixel Auto Focus Camera with Dual LED Flash
  • VGA (640 x 480) 30 FPS Video Capture
  • Qwerty Keypad

LG launch Prada II KF 900

LG today announced the successor of the ever popular Prada phone which had leaked earlier. Officially called KF 900, the Prada II bumps up the specs of the original Prada phone to 5 Mega Pixel Camera, Wi-fi, 3G, HSDPA & Qwerty Keypad. The 5 megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens comes to replace the modest 2 megapixel shooter of the original Prada phone. With 3G & HSDPA present, users can use to surf on the go. Motorola launch Q11, has no 3G

Motorola has launched a new Winodws Mobile Smartphone today. It's running on Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard & is the successor of the Motorola Q9. The Q11 has Wi-fi, GPS & the 3.2 Mega Pixel Camera as it's main attraction. However it also suffers in some respect due to only 64 MB RAM & a slow ARM 7 LTE CPU from Freescale. The Q11 also has USB v1.1 and Bluetooth v 2.1 on board and also contains a microSD card slot for expanding the built-in memory. The lack of 3G & HSDPA support however will force users to use EDGE for on-the-go wireless data or Wi-fi when they can find a hotspot.

Also the battery is on the slim side with capacity of just 1170 mAH. The Q11 has a 2.4 Inch QVGA Screen which is not aligned to the center of the phone but is shifted to right. In it's place there are notification LED's. Motorola Q 11 measures the pretty slim 117 x 6 4x 11.7 mm, totaling a volume of 85cc. Its weight is passable 115 g. Motorola Q 11 is expected to be available in December 2008 but there is no information regarding its pricing yet.

Detailed Specs of Motorola Q11 :

  • 3.2 Mega Pixel Fixed Focus Camera with LED Flash
  • 2.4 inch QVGA Screen with resolution of 320 x 240 pixels
  • Full Qwerty Heypad
  • Push E-mail & IM
  • Freescale ARM 7 LTE processor
  • LTE + Intel Bulverde Chipset
  • 64 MB Ram
  • EDGE, Wi-fi & GPS
  • Quad Band GSM
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • Video player MPEG4/3gp/WMV/H.264
  • Media player MP3/AAC+/WAV/WMA
  • Micro SD card slot
  • Pocket Internet Explorer 6
  • microUSB Slot, USB 1.1
  • Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard
  • 117 x 64 x 11.7 mm dimensions & 115 gm weight

Blackberry 9500 Storm is finally announced

After numerous leaks, Research in Motion (RIM) finally announced the Blackberry 9500. It will be exclusively sold by Verizon in US, Vodafone in Europe & Telus in Canada. After the final specs were released a notable omission is the lack of Wi-fi in the Storm. That seems to be a big mistake on part of Blackberry to make an iPhone rival Touch Screen Smartphone without Wi-fi functionality. In present times, Wi-fi has become a must in High-end Smartphones & RIM's decision to not pack the 9500 with Wi-fi could hurt it in 9500's sales. Especially when Nokia has started to put Wi-fi in all of it's new N-Series & E-Series phones. In Windows Mobile world, almost all phones have Wi-fi in them. The decision is also confusing as the Blackberry 9000 Bold already has Wi-fi in it.

The Blackberry Storm 9500 will be sold through Vodafone networks and will be free on monthly plans of 35 GBP and up with an 18-month contract. The Blackberry Storm 9530 is the variant of the handset that will be sold in North America through Verizon & Telus. Along with the quad-band GSM and 2100Mhz UMTS support that the 9500 model has, it will also offer CDMA2000 1xEV-DO support. The 9500 Storm will be available for purchase soon.

Detailed Specs of Blackberry 9500 Storm :

  • 3 Mega Pixel Auto Focus Camera with LED Flash
  • 3.3 inch Touch Screen with resolution of 360 x 480 pixels
  • True Haptics
  • 3.5 mm headphone jack
  • 624 Mhz CPU
  • 192 MB Ram
  • 3G, HSDPA & GPS
  • Quad Band GSM
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • Video player DivX/WMV/XviD/3gp
  • Media player MP3/WMA/AAC+
  • DataViz Document Viewer/Editor
  • Micro SD card slot
  • Blackberry Maps
  • Landscape virtual QWERTY keyboard
