Samsung S8300 leaks, 8 Mega Pixel Shooter with Touch Screen

A new 8 Mega Pixel Mobile from Samsung has leaked. This will be the third 8 Mega Pixel shooter from Samsung after the i8510 Innov8 and the M8800 Pixon. The new phone is named S8300 and is a slider. The phone is only 12.8 mm thick and has a large OLED Screen sporting a Wide QVGA resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. Further more the Screen is also a Touch Screen so you can use your finger or stylus to operate the phone. This also makes it the second 8 Mega Pixel Touch Screen Phone of Samsung. It also has Bluetooth 2.1, FM Radio, MicroSD slot, GPS, HSPDA, DivX support, TouchQiz interface and lastly the all important 8 Mega Pixel Cam. As it's a slider from Samsung, build quality will be decent and the slider will also be good as Samsung generally makes great slider phones.

The only things missing in this slider are the Wi-Fi connection and a Xenon Flash, which can be beneficial in Night Shooting. The phone just features a LED Flash. Looking at it from the back, the camera reminds of the Samsung G600 and the Samsung u900 Soul which had a similar setup. It should be officially announced in 2009 (only 2 days are left in 2008 mrgreen) and available by March 2009. We will be surely waiting.

Nokia launches N97, first N-Series with Qwerty

Nokia launched the N 97 multimedia smart touch phone (Nokia just calls it Multimedia Computer mrgreen). The most distinguishing feature of N97 is that it has a physical Qwerty keypad to help in messaging and mailing. Another touted feature is the 35 degree kickstand that helps in watching videos but can be bothersome if you drop the phone.

Looking at the spces, it has a 5 Mega Pixel Camera with Carl Zeiss Optics, 32 GB Flash Storage, a huge 3.5 inch screen with a decent (by HTC Touch HD's standards) resolution of 640 x 360, Wi-fi, GPS, FM Transmitter, 3.5 mm jack and a digital compass too. The styling is different than the N81/N96/N85 clones we saw from Nokia and we welcome that. Apart from the huge storage and the huge screen there's not much in it to differentiate it from it's other N-Series Brothers and Sisters like N85 & N96. The N97 is basically a Qwerty version of Nokia 5800 with double the storage of N96 and having all the features of N85. The N97 also supports widgets on it's home screen. The N97 also has a social feature which Nokia calls "So-Lo" which allows your friends to update their location and status.

Nokia seems to have learnt from it's mistake of N95 and N96 & has equipped the N97 with a 1500 mAh battery which should be adequate for a phone of it's size. The phone comes with a Digital Compass and Nokia Maps 3.0. The N97 is expected to begin shipping in the first half of 2009 at an estimated retail price of EUR 550 before taxes or subsidies. Nokia is definitely impressed to make the N97 it's Flagship of 2009. How much of a fight will it give to Sony Ericcsion Xperia X1 and a possible HTC Touch HD Pro is to be seen.

Detailed Specs of Nokia N97 :

  • 5 Mega Pixel Auto Focus Camera with Dual LED Flash

The FM transmitter can also be switched on to receive voice navigation guide via car speakers when using GPS. It also supports DivX playback natively, without any need for conversion. It also boasts of TV-out so you can view your videos & photos on your TV.

It comes with a MicroSD Card slot with support for SDHC (SD High Capacity) Cards. It comes bundled with FIFA 2008 & Asphalt Games, however Nokia's N-Gage can't run on it. The only thing missing in it are a Camera Lens Cover, Xenon Flash & a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The Samsung i7110 should be available in Europe just in time for the Christmas holidays. Get push feature for your gmail in iphone

Hi Friends,

As you all must be aware that the latest firmware of iPhone has introduced the feature of push mail. But sadly for Gmail its not fully push, its a fetch system, which checks for your mail ever 15 mins or 30 mins or more.

The real push is only for Apple's paid service mobile me, MS Exchange and yahoo mail.

So I came across an idea to get Gmail as push in iPhone via yahoo. This may be useful to many Gmail users.

Its a very simple process.

Step 1:
Create a new ymail account at yahoo (If you have a yahoo account then u can use that & combine the yahoo & Gmail into 1)

Step 2:
Login in your Gmail & go to settings....and then select the option of filters....and then finally click on "Create New Filter".
Then enter your Gmail email address in the to section like shown in the image below.

Login to Gmail & enter your email ID
Click on Image to see Full Size Image

Click on Next Step

Select the option of "Mark as read" to avoid confusion in your Gmail account. (If you don't select that, then all the mails forwarded to ymail> will be shown as unread in Gmail)

Then enter your "ymail" email address in forward it to column as shown in the picture below.

Enter your ymail id in forwarding column
Click on Image to see Full Size Image

Click on Create Filter to finish the process.

Now all the mails sent to your Gmail will be forwarded to ymail automatically.

Step 3:
In your iPhone, delete or deactivate your Gmail mail setting. (This is done to avoid duplication of emails in your phone)

Step 4:
Create a new mail account of yahoo (your new ymail address which you just made).
And in settings of iPhone don't forget to keep the push on for yahoo.

That's it guys & gals..........you will now get all your Gmail mails pushed immediately via free yahoo.............!! Isn't that awesome? wink

The only minus point in this system is, you cant edit the outgoing smtp & use the Gmail for sending mails. So when you send email from your iPhone, it will go via yahoo. But you can always add a signature in settings and mention your Gmail address.

I hope this would be useful to the many iPhone + Gmail users who wanted free push mail. And one more important thing........with the new iPhone firmware 2.1, apple seems to have messed up the push feature altogether....and when the phone is idle, it does not work. It works only when the phone is in use. Even the fetch of Gmail is not working in idle mode. But apple has recognised this bug & is working upon it and will correct it soon in a future firmware.

However the users with firmware 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2 should be able to get push emails even in idle mode.
