Nokia E66 & E71 to be released soon

Nokia E66 & E71 are to be released soon, if the rumor mills are to believed. They have been long overdue and will be a worthy replacement of E65 & E61 respectively.Though there is no official information, it is certain that both devices will sport 3.2 megapixel cameras, secondary videocall cameras and 128MB of memory, facts obvious by the provided photos. Nokia E66 is a slider phone with large keys on both the front panel and the main keyboard. There is no information regarding the size of the display, yet it is certain it will be 16M TFT one and it really looks large.

Nokia E66

Nokia E71 is the other high-end phone, which comes in monoblock form factor and a full QWERTY keyboard. The main block of keys with the D-Pad looks very similar to Nokia E61i while the QWERTY keyboard has different design and very large "space" key.

The camera seems to be an autofocus one, with flash and self-portrait mirror. The battery cover seems to have the same patterned finish as Nokia E51.

Sprint lays off 4,000 employees, closes stores, cuts rates; may sell off assets

It doesn't look good for sprint when Chief Executive Officer Dan Hesse, 54, is firing 4,000 workers, closing outlets and discounting wireless phone plans after the stock lost more than half its value in the past year. Sprint had a $29.2 billion loss in the fourth quarter after writing down most of the purchase of Nextel. The company had previously put that loss at $29.5 billion.Sprint may seek to dispose of Nextel or find a buyer for the entire company, the Wall Street Journal said last week.

Since taking over in December, Hesse has redone Sprint's advertisements, scrapped the dividend and borrowed $2.5 billion under a credit line. He also plans to close about 125 of Sprint's company-owned stores, or about 8 percent.Sprint unveiled a plan last week to merge its new high-speed mobile network with Clearwire Corp. to save money and get a leg up on bigger rivals. Sprint will get majority ownership of the first national WiMax network, which will be able to reach speeds up to five times faster than the technology his rivals now use.

Sprint lost 1.07 million contract customers last quarter, fewer than forecast, and said the declines will improve ``marginally'' this quarter. Customers have fled over complaints about service after the $36 billion acquisition of Nextel Communications Inc. Nextel may be worth as little as $5 billion now.

RIM's iPhone rival BlackBerry 9500 'Thunder' to debut soon ?

The Thunder is BlackBerry’s first ever Touch Screen Device and it will be a piece of mobile perfection for which your precious fingers will be happy they waited. Matching the quality of the robust, yet refined handset will be the power of the leading wireless carriers in America and Europe. The BlackBerry Thunder will be available exclusively on Verizon Wireless in the United States and Vodafone in Europe, providing the perfect storm of Mobile offerings.

The specs floating for "Thunder" hint at an EVDO Rev. C radio mated to a GSM/HSPA radio allowing a truly any network any country cell phone. Also the presence of LTE 4G can't be ruled out as it's going to be rolled out by Verizon in the near future. The standard features like GPS & Wi-fi along with 3.5mm jack should also be present. I hope RIM puts a better camera than the abysmal 2mp camera in Blackberries till now.

Apple iPhone coming to India ?

Vodafone and Bharti Airtel are bringing the iPhone to India by November. Apple announced that it has signed a deal with Bharti to sell its iPhones from its retail outlets. Earlier it had signed a deal with Vodafone to sell iPhone in Ten Counteries including India & Australia.

But the agreement with Bharti is different than the agreement with Vodafone as Bharti has signed an ‘independent’ agreement that will allow it to sell iPhone handsets in India, the company said in a release. People will have to subscribe to a Vodafone connection if they want to use an iPhone in India.

Apple is abondaning it's exclusive locked deals selling style like with O2 in UK, T-Mobile in Germany, Orange in France and AT&T in US, as it faces low sales. Now it's started to sell iPhone unlocked and on rival networks in the same country as seen in Italy, Australia & now India.

The thing to watchout is weather Apple is brining it's new 3G iPhone or the old iPhone to India as by November the 3G iPhone will be out.
